Suzhou is located in the core area of the Yangtze River Delta, the core area of the G60 Science and Technology Innovation Corridor, and adjacent to the metropolis of Shanghai.

Xiangcheng District is an important hub for Suzhou's external relations, the core expansion area of municipal functions, and an important node in the two major regional development strategies of the Yangtze River Delta integration and the Yangtze River urban agglomeration. It has built a convenient modern transportation network system, with 1 national-level economic and technological development zone, 1 provincial-level high-tech zone, and 1 high-speed rail new city.
