Robot, the number one player in artificial intelligence
Overview: In the recently concluded 2017 RoboCup Robot World Cup China competition, a young team participating for the first time—Shenyang City College—stood out among eight strong teams, including Tsinghua University, Southeast University, and Huazhong University of Science and Technology, winning first place and becoming the biggest dark horse of the competition. After the victory, people began to explore the story behind this team, and what kind of support lies behind its success?

Back in 2016, Shenyang City College and Shenyang Siasun Robot & Automation Co., Ltd. signed a strategic cooperation agreement, jointly establishing the Siasun Green Island Humanoid Football Robot Engineering Center. At that time, Siasun President Qu Daokui stated: "This is a new calling card, which is of great significance for China's robotics to take the lead in the world." The establishment of the college also has an important purpose: to explore the promotion, popularization, and application of artificial intelligence technology in the civilian field. In 2017, after deciding to cooperate on the development of football robots, Siasun Central Research Institute engineer Li Bangyu joined the humanoid football robot research and development team as a technical backbone.

Humanoid robots seem simple, but behind them lies the integration of control technology, vision technology, positioning technology, and decision-making algorithms. With limited time and urgent tasks, and limited reference objects, Li Bangyu chose to optimize and integrate the existing artificial intelligence technology of the Central Research Institute, combined with the robot's mechanical structure of less than 70CM in height. The Central Research Institute, as the research and development center for Siasun's new technologies and products, houses a mysterious laboratory with the code name "S.AI," also known as the Siasun Artificial Intelligence Research Institute, which is mainly responsible for the development and application of cutting-edge technologies related to artificial intelligence.
Artificial intelligence, one of the top ten popular phrases in Chinese media in 2017, swept across various industries overnight. Under the grand party of cross-border integration, various products and services are labeled with artificial intelligence. So, as the ultimate evolutionary form of artificial intelligence, what is the connection between robots and artificial intelligence?

In the S.AI debugging workshop, we seem to see the unlimited possibilities brought about by the combination of these two:
——How is property divided after a divorce?
——Articles 17 to 19 of the current Marriage Law clearly stipulate that jointly owned property is property acquired during the subsistence of the marriage relationship...
"This is a lawyer assistant system developed based on our latest Songyu system. It can not only greatly reduce the workload of manual labor but also actively learn based on customer questions." Research Institute director Wang Xiaodong introduced: "Humanized voice systems are an important part of artificial intelligence technology. We have made many innovations and breakthroughs in echo cancellation, voice interruption, endpoint detection, and multi-engine mixing. These technologies can make future robots more human-like and understanding."

After solving the voice problem, the robot's "eyes" also face upgrading and transformation. How can robots see the surrounding environment and people like humans? "We mainly achieve this goal through the visual recognition function in the human-computer interaction system." Wang Xiaodong introduced: "Through facial recognition and big data matching, the robot can recognize you at a glance, like seeing an old friend, and greet you. And if you wave to it, it can even walk towards you; this is the robot's gesture and hand shape recognition system. When you want the robot to walk with you, it can also follow you like a puppy; this uses its human body following system."

Next is the issue of how the robot walks. In the laboratory, a robot "big dog" running on a conveyor belt caught our attention. "The robot mainly uses the navigation system to achieve motion control. Like a person arriving in an unfamiliar environment, it needs to use sensors to scan and perceive its surroundings." "Our robot can dynamically adjust its offline map to avoid obstacles and moving people and objects. The robot itself is also very obedient; you can set a no-go area for it, and our robot will absolutely not "cross the line." Wang Xiaodong said with a smile.
With strong technical support, Li Bangyu's engineering team completed the assembly of the robot prototype in less than a month. It was this robot, No. 5, that scored 3 of the 5 goals in the Shenyang City College 2017 RoboCup Robot World Cup competition, ensuring the team's final victory.
"If artificial intelligence is an abstract technology and concept, then robots are the embodiment and practical application of this technology." President Qu Daokui said: "The robot itself is a large platform that integrates various cutting-edge technologies such as cloud computing, the Internet of Things, and big data. It is precisely because of the continuous development and integration of these technologies that the robot itself has undergone a qualitative change, becoming a leading player in the intelligent era."
